Meet Our Director

Julie Rockowitz has served as the Director of Beth El Day Camp since 1994. During Julie’s tenure, the camp was accredited by the American Camp Association. While maintaining outstanding swim, sports and arts programs, Julie also emphasizes programming designed to increase children’s self-esteem, and knowledge of modern Jewish life.

Julie has a Bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University, which included a year of study in Israel. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Jewish Education and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University. In 1998, Julie completed a Certificate in Jewish Family Education from the Board of Jewish Education and Fordham University. Julie was recognized with the Ernest L. Rothschild Leadership Award for impacting people’s lives.

By sending your child to Beth El Day Camp, you are offering a summer full of experiences that provide memories that last a lifetime. The summer days at Beth El Day Camp are spent learning to swim, singing songs, creating art, STEM, tennis, discovering nature and sometimes sitting on the grass eating popsicles with friends and counselors.

One of Julie’s favorite camp activities is watching the children and the box gardens grow. Julie feels truly lucky to have found her summer home at Beth El Day Camp and is passionate about providing a safe and fun-filled
environment for young children.
